What Do We Accept?

We welcome donations that help us tell the story of Port Coquitlam. If you have any objects, photographs, or archival materials that you think share the history of PoCo, we would love to hear from you!

Research Policy

The PoCo Heritage archival collection is available to all patrons on an equal basis. Staff will do their best to facilitate research but reserve the right to restrict access, subject to material condition, sensitivity of archival content, and intended purpose of use.

While in the Archive, researchers must abide by the following rules:

Research must be conducted within the Archive under staff supervision.
Archival records do not circulate. No materials may leave the building.
Archival materials and folders must be returned to their original arrangement.
Only pencils and computers may be used for notetaking.
Only staff are permitted to use scanners for digitization or reproduction.
No food or drink in the Archive.
Flash must be disabled when photographing works for personal research purposes.
Other guidelines as specified by staff.

Submitting a Research Request

To submit a research request, complete a Research Request form. An online form is available here.

Conducting Research In-Person

All researchers must schedule an appointment in advance to access archival materials on-site. Permission to view archival materials does not guarantee the right of distribution or reproduction.

Researchers may photograph archival materials for research and personal use.

Photocopies may be made in accordance with the Archive’s pricing guide.

Remote Research

We welcome all questions, but due to limited staffing, no more than 30 minutes will be spent on a remote request submitted by donation. Additional research can be conducted by museum staff at the rate outlined in the pricing guide.

Digital Image Distribution

There are two ways to request an image for distribution:

PastPerfect Online Site

Click on the desired image.
Select Request Image in the bottom right-hand corner.
Complete and submit the generated form.

Email us at [email protected] with the catalogue number(s) of desired image(s). If you do not know a catalogue number, email us with the subject of what you would like an image of and we may be able to find it for you.

Once we have your request and it is approved, you will need to fill in a Digital Image Request Form and then images will be distributed.
