Pets, Past & Present: A Family Day Poetry Show

a Family Poetry Show featuring the poets from Troupe de Poetry sharing stories of the pets they had throughout the years.

The whole family will be entertained by the true tales of a dog who went to the school crossing guard to have the traffic stopped for him so he could safely cross a busy highway on his morning rounds before leash laws, neighbourhood children circling the dog catcher’s truck until they freed their captured pet, a pet goat that followed her children to school, a Xmas Tree exploring Cockatoo that inadvertently got tangled in Xmas tree lights and was successfully rescued from her predicament. We intend to sprinkle our poetry with Heritage history points about animals and pets over the years. For example, early crimes in Port Coquitlam were dominated by escaping family pigs turning up in people’s gardens and other roaming cattle, resulting in fines for their owners. The proliferation of family pets in our community and the infrastructure to look after them like pet stores, vets, dog parks, kennels, and dog walkers.
